Fire design is crucial for buildings such as, hospitals, offices, or hotels. These structures require escape routes. This is especially relevant for strategic and public buildings that, in an emergency, have a large amount of people to be evacuated and often a low flow capacity. As a result, the correct design of the escape routes is essential to allow users to evacuate safely and for security teams to operate both during and after the fire.

MEP support systems are an integral part of the escape routes. As such, they have to remain structurally sound and operational for a defined period of time in order to help people to pass in the event of fire. It is important to have the correct fire design of MEP support systems. The operation of the safety systems can be endangered and the resistance of compartments substantially reduced or even completely damaged.

Therefore it is essential to have a proper fire design of MEP support systems in place. Hilti fire protection systems serve the needs of piping, ventilation, and electrical systems from light to heavy applications. Hilti follows the state-of-the-art guideline, the European Assessment Document EAD-280016-00-062. This method leads to cost-effective and flexible solutions since fire resistant design is done for many installation support combinations. Through its extensive testing, Hilti provides European Technical Assessments, ETAs, with detailed technical documentation for load calculations, meeting the design needs of complex projects requiring customised solutions.

By bringing higher safety and better cost efficiency Hilti takes the next steps to remain the leading partner for fire solutions with constant innovation.

Hilti fire protection MT System provides solutions for 30 to 120 min fire rating from light to heavy applications for the main relevant applications such as Trapezes suspended by threaded rods, Trapeze frames with horizontal and vertical channels, Cantilevers without suspension, Cantilevers suspended from the ceiling with threaded rod, Headrails and Media connection to all these applications.

The hardware solution is enabled by software and services. Hilti engineers can support you at every stage of your project development. The technical service provides highly specialised support to specifiers, technical offices and installers through (i) design consultancy managed by the technical office, by Hilti Headquarter experts, by our engineers in the field who work directly in contact with the designer or the company at their offices; (ii) consultancy on site to respond to specific problems encountered during the works; (iii) detailed documentation that analyses the required application and provides the best suitable solution through a technical report based on the EAD Guideline, drawings, correct operating instructions with accurate bill of material and precise dimensions for cutting length thanks to the new software MSE.

Modular Support Systems design is crucial regarding compliance with fire safety objectives since significant deformations due to the exposure to fire can cause considerable damage. To help to reduce time and cost involved to design Fire Resistant Modular Support Systems and to achieve higher flexibility regarding construction variants to which the verification applies at the same time, Hilti remains the partner with the best solution that can offer complex fire engineering design.
